Easy Pizza Dough
Homemade pizza has become one of those dinners that I absolutely adore! I used to use that boxed pizza dough mix, which always seemed to turn out super sticky and it never had that fluffiness that a pizza crust should have. It wasn't until I started using this recipe that I realized that homemade pizza is "da bomb." I feel that words like "da bomb" have to be used to describe homemade pizza because it's simply that good.
This recipe fits perfectly on a medium-large sized cookie sheet. Not those little tiny cookie sheets, but the more "standard" cookie sheet. You know the one.
I have become a little obsessed with pizza since I starting using this recipe and one of my favorite pizzas to make is Chicken Bacon Italian BBQ Pizza. We also love alfredo pizza and even just your typical hawaiian is great! So, the next time you're craving pizza and you don't want to spend all that money ordering one for delivery, try out this crust recipe and be amazed! One of the best parts is that it's super easy and once you mix up the ingredients it's only 1-1/2 hours until you can cook it!
Easy Pizza Dough Recipe {Print Recipe}
Ingredients:
2-1/4 tsp (or one package) active dry yeast
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1-1/2 cups of very warm water
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
3-3/4 flour, divided into 3-1/4 and 1/2 cup
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Allow to stand at room temperature for 10 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy and bubbly. If it's not foamy and bubbly after 10 minutes, your water temperature was probably too high or too low or your yeast had gone bad.
Add salt, oil and flour to the bowl and mix together well. Make sure the flour is all mixed in. Now, using your hands, begin to knead the dough in the bowl, adding sprinklings of that 1/2 cup of flour that you set aside, as you need it. You don't want the dough to be sticky, so add as much flour as you need while you knead. Knead about 10 times.
Place dough in a large mixing bowl coated with oil. Toss dough once to coat with oil. Cover with a dish towel and allow dough to rise for 1-1/2 hours.
Once you are ready to use your dough, spread it out on your cookie sheet and then allow it to rise for an additional 5-10 minutes before adding sauce and toppings.
If using a cookie sheet, the baking instructions are:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Spread your sauce and toppings over your dough, place it in the oven and cook for 17-19 minutes, or until crust is crispy and golden brown.
Your finished pizza crust should have a nice crisp on the outside and be warm, thick and fluffy on the inside.

This is on my menu for Friday! Make your Own Pizza! Awesome Dough recipe right here!
ReplyDeleteI have made this dough two Fridays in a row and my husband told me tonight that it is better then any pizza we could buy from a pizza shop. Tonight before I baked the pizza I rolled the dough in cornmeal ( I saw this on Diners, drive ins, and dives) and it made the crust more crispy then before. My kids gave me a thumbs up. Thanks for the awesome recipe!
