Why I Love Cooking With Canned Food {Cans Get You Cooking}

Pin It! In my years of cooking there have been so many valuable lessons and important facts and information I have learned. Cooking is something I absolutely love doing for so many reasons. One of the main reasons I love to cook is because I love knowing that my family can sit down together that night and enjoy something delicious and (most of the time) good for them. I love the whole process that comes along with cooking a delicious meal, I love brainstorming new recipe ideas, shopping for the ingredients, prepping the ingredients, cooking the meal and serving it to my family.

One valuable thing I have learned over time is how important it is to have my pantry stocked with food, especially canned food that I can use to throw together a quick meal without much hassle. I was lucky enough to be able to be named a "Canbassador" and be a part of the Cans Get You Cooking campaign through Mom It Forward where I get to share with you some of the many reasons I love cooking with canned food. So, I've put together a list of some of the most important reasons I need to have my "Cantry" well-stocked and how it makes my life so much easier!

Creating Recipes
One of the reasons I love having my "cantry" filled with lots of different fruits, veggies and sauces is because it makes it so much easier to come up with a delicious, fun, new recipe in no time! On the nights when I haven't planned a dinner, it's nice to be able to go to my pantry, look at what I have and create something new that often times will end up being a staple in our home! Some of my family's favorite recipes are born by throwing together a bunch of different canned items,like this yummy Cajun Chicken Soup:

Health Benefits
Studies have shown that many of our favorite canned fruits and veggies have just the same amount of nutrients as fresh and frozen ones! In my home canned fruits and veggies are a must most of the time. They are easy to prepare and it's just the right amount of food! Sometimes when I have too many fresh or frozen veggies in the fridge/freezer some of them end up going to waste... and that's just not okay.

Saves Time
Let's face it, sometimes you're in a rush to make dinner and you don't want to spend a bunch of time washing, prepping and cutting up veggies for your soup, casserole, or side dish. It's so much easier to grab a can, open it up and pour it right in. It's especially good for easy recipes, like this Easy Crockpot Chicken Chili which I use canned items from companies like S&W and Old El Paso:
